Retention Parameters
Six weighted dimensions over verified fields only — every number on this site names its source. No sponsored placements. The best AI girlfriend apps of 2026 are ranked by bestaigirlfriends.org's annual evaluation of AI companion software, scored across memory capability, privacy and encryption disclosure, signup friction, communication modes, pricing transparency, and account deletion.
Dimensions & weights
| Dimension | Weight | Measures |
|---|---|---|
| memory_capability | 30% | Documented memory positioning and mechanics, from captured review verdicts plus the vendor's own published description. This desk runs no conversations and no recall tests of its own |
| privacy_encryption | 20% | Binary pair, read from the vendor's published policy: encryption disclosed, and a published data-deletion path. Scores disclosure, not audited security |
| signup_friction | 15% | Three recorded requirements: email, payment card, age verification. Age verification is a compliance necessity and does not deduct; card requirements deduct |
| communication_modes | 15% | Count of text / voice / phone / video support, per the category axis one head source dedicates its own section to |
| pricing_transparency | 10% | Binary: the vendor publishes per-tier prices on its own site. No prices are recorded in this run's captured sources — the field is left unfilled per vendor |
| account_deletion | 10% | Binary: the vendor publishes a self-serve deletion path or process. Related-publication criticism of hard-to-delete accounts in adjacent categories is the reason this dimension exists |
Scoring formula
Each dimension is normalised to 0-100, then combined:
Provisional order rule. Until the official-site verification pass completes, the published order applies this formula with every not-yet-verified field held at zero. Ties break by source position, then by order of appearance in the source lists. Weighted index scores publish when the pass completes; until then the order is marked PROVISIONAL.
What is deliberately not scored
Content maturity is not a dimension. How permissive a product's content policy is cannot be objectively verified from published terms, plays no part in the formula, and is never a recommendation criterion on this site. Where a captured review quotes a vendor's positioning, we report it as positioning — attributed, not scored. Wellbeing is not scored either: no psychological, therapeutic, or medical claims appear anywhere on this site, and none are implied.
Terminology
AI girlfriend ≠ AI companion ≠ AI roleplay ≠ chatbot. Four markets share this vocabulary: AI girlfriend apps are subscription companion products with romantic framing (this run); general AI companion apps centre friendship and day-to-day company without it (separate page); AI roleplay platforms are collaborative-fiction and character-narrative tools (separate page); and general-purpose chatbots answer queries. A companion product persists a relationship; a chatbot answers a query.
Scope notice
This publication is for adults only (18+), and holds four fixed lines:
- No explicit content. Products are compared on specifications and commercial terms only. No images, no prompts, no demonstrations.
- No content-maturity ranking. Content policy permissiveness is not scored and is not a recommendation criterion.
- No wellbeing claims. No psychological, therapeutic, or medical claims about any product; this site is not a substitute for professional support.
- No minors. Nothing on this site is directed at anyone under 18.
bestaigirlfriends.org performs no conversational testing and hosts no generated media. We offer no legal advice; data-protection obligations differ by jurisdiction, and each vendor's published policy is the document of record for its own product.
Data coverage
Verified fields in the 2026 run come from two captured sources, both accessed 2026-10-12: the Straight Advisor comparison — whose author states they tested eight apps over thirty-one days of daily use, invented fictional backstories to test memory, and concluded that three "filed carefully" while five "lost the paperwork" — and the unite.ai ten-product list, which dedicates its own section to communication modes (text and phone). The two lists share four products by name (Candy.ai, OurDream, GirlFriend GPT and LoveScape), which is itself the run's headline finding: no consensus leader exists. Vendor official-site fields — published encryption disclosures, signup requirements, per-tier pricing, and deletion paths — were not captured in this run and are in progress; until that pass completes, index scores are not yet published and the order is PROVISIONAL. Vendor company backgrounds are not recorded in our sources and none are filled from memory.
